Te Araroa queenstown (day 42)

Image
Garmin Connect Luxury rest days in Queenstown with Narelle, before she heads off to Kepler and I leave to for the final section to Bluff. We did manage a lovely walk round Lake Hayes, which helped keep the legs active, but keep effort to a. minimum to give my feet some time to recover. Otherwise perhaps a little too much food, wine and cocktails. As well as a surprise dinner from James and Amanda which was awesome at The Grill on the lake front. Unfortunately it can't last and need to move on, back to the trails and the not so luxury accommodation. Not looking forward to more dehydrated meals. Sad to be leaving, but looking forward to the last section and reaching Bluff.

Te Araroa day 40

Garmin Connect After opting for the bus from Wanaka to Queenstown i walked back to 20km in the rain to arrowtown. Arriving in the town i was welcomed by a screaming Michael who was sitting outside the pub, trying to keep out of the rain. It was his birthday so i enjoyed a pint with him, then went to setup my tent, before returning to share a pizza for his birthday dinner.

I took the opportunity while in arrowtown to get my booster shot, help keep COVID away.. certainly dont want to have to isolate in my tent for 10 days. No side affects, enjoyed a restful day, went to the movies and generally tried to avoid the rain. Weather forecast better for tomorrow. Garmin Connect Tomorrow arrived and I headed off to macetown, following the old macetown road, which was also the last few KMs of rhe motatapu trail marathon I completed a couple of years ago. From macetown i returned on the TA track back to arrowtown, ticking off another section of the trail I had missed due to the bad weather.
